Reception Desk with Slats and Rounded Corners
A custom reception desk with a curved outline: vertical slats in a light oak tone, rounded corners and a lit plinth that makes the body appear to float above the floor. The desk stands by the entrance and divides the area into a guest side and a staff workstation.
The guest side: slats along the curve
In plan the reception desk is an arc with a short side wing, and every corner and the free end are rounded. That is practical in a walkway near the door: nobody catches a sharp corner, and people pass around the desk easily. From the guest side the desk is soft and warm: the front is fully clad in evenly spaced slats that follow the radii without a break. The upper shelf in an oak decor repeats the line of the body and projects slightly, a place to rest a bag or papers. The raised shelf also screens the work surface from visitors.
The staff side
On the inside we planned a white work surface below the guest shelf, two lockable drawers, open shelves for documents and a cork panel for notes. A socket sits under the worktop. Everything needed is within reach, while from the entrance only an even row of slats is visible.
Lit plinth and curved body
The plinth is recessed, with a warm LED strip running along it. The light traces the curve and lightens the solid volume, and the recess protects the bottom of the slats from shoes and mops. The design follows japandi and soft minimalism: light oak, white, gentle light. We make the bent MDF bodies for furniture like this at our production site; the technique is described in our piece on furniture with rounded corners. From the same series come the conference tables on fluted bases; a very different look is the white counter with gold trim for a beauty salon. Furniture for an entrance area on a different scale is the lobby and corridors of a residential building.
A curved reception desk with wooden slats suits a practice, a salon or an office where the first impression forms at the door. We match the shape, the length and the fittings of the staff side to the premises. See custom furniture for business.
