Wall-Hung Bathroom Vanity with a Wave Front

A custom bathroom vanity unit: wall-hung, across the full width of the wall, with a front bent into a gentle wave, in a walnut-effect finish. We made a light worktop for it that follows the line of the body.

A wave instead of a step

The depth of the unit changes along its length: it is shallow by the passage next to the toilet and deeper under the basin. Usually such a change is made as a step, with a corner at hip height. Here a smooth curve replaces it: a radius front joins the two flat parts. The grain runs vertically and is not interrupted on the bend, and the fronts have no handles. The unit hangs on the wall and the floor under it stays open, which makes cleaning easier and the room feel freer. This is how bathroom furniture adapts to the layout, not the other way round.

A worktop along the line of the front

The light matt worktop is cut exactly to the wave, projects slightly over the front and has a rounded edge. It has cut-outs for the sanitary fittings, and a low upstand runs along the wall. We fit the fronts and the worktop to each other at production, before installation: on a curved part even a small gap is visible, and it can no longer be corrected on site. What the photos show

Three photos were taken at production: the unit assembled with its worktop. The fourth shows the bathroom right after hanging: the body is already on the wall, while the worktop, basin and tap are not installed yet. Curved forms in other rooms are the round accent shelf for the living room and the island with a fluted front along an arc.
