Kuhnya — Kitchen Appliance Store

For a kitchen appliance and cookware store we built a display kitchen — a straight run along the wall where staff show a sink, a hob and accessories in working condition. These are kitchenware store fixtures, yet they are put together like a real kitchen: base units, a middle tier of cabinets and a back panel.

Cabinets that stand on the worktop

In place of wall units, low modules sit directly on the worktop: an open section with wooden shelves, a solid front with a rail, and two cabinets with mesh doors. One wooden shelf runs across the top of them all. Spices, ladles and glasses stay within reach while the wall above is left clear.

Mesh, jar slots and a rail

Mesh fronts in a steel frame show the contents and let them breathe without turning the cabinet into an open shelf: the goods are visible, but you open a door to take them. Inside, wine glasses hang from a slotted wooden bar. The open section has a shelf with round slots for jars and, next to it, a wooden bar with hooks for utensils. On the back panel we fixed shelves of folded black metal, where shelf and back are one part. How we display goods of another kind can be seen in the fireplace showroom with a stand for every piece.

Matt black with a light edge

All fronts are matt black and handleless. The edges are left light, in a wood look, and trace every drawer with a thin line that replaces both handles and ornament. A stainless steel sink and a hob are set into the black worktop. The way we handle such jobs is described in our piece on how shop fittings go from brief to installation; fixtures for a similar range are in the homeware store with curtain frames and plinths.

A stand like this is useful to appliance, bathroom and cookware stores where a product sells better installed than boxed. More on the custom shop fittings page.
