For Intersport Outlet we designed and made the sports store fixtures of an outlet-format shop: the checkout line, wall shelving, island gondolas and separate structures for heavy equipment. The floor is large and open, so the fixtures do two jobs: carry a lot of stock and keep the whole store in view.
The cash desk is a long white counter with three grey pedestals that step forward. Each carries a large orange number. Shoppers see from a distance which till is free, and the queue sorts itself without staff. The pedestal also hides hardware and cables from the sales floor, while a second worktop behind the counter is left for packing.
Full-height slatwall panels line the walls: hooks and shelves move along the grooves without tools, and balls or gloves hung as one field decorate the wall by themselves. The gondolas in the middle stay below eye level, with a plinth at the base and a slatwall end for small items. Sportswear shop shelving of this kind does not block the view or the signage. How such a system is rearranged for the season is covered in our article on modular shopfitting.
Punch bags hang on chains in frames of black square section — you can push one and judge its weight. Dumbbells rest on the sloped tiers of steel racks, balls in round bins on castors with the logo cut through the metal. The bins roll easily to a promotion spot. A dark version for the same brand with a different set of pieces is the store with a shoe wall on black mesh; fixtures that carry several labels at once are in the multi-brand outdoor clothing store. A wall system with repositionable shelves on a different scale is in the baby goods store.
A set like this is easy to repeat from one location to the next, so it suits retail chains and large-format stores. Details are on the custom shop fittings page.
