For the Deko store — a large homeware sales floor — we made non-standard fixtures: frames for curtains, platforms, a house-shaped frame over the furniture zone and an information desk. Here the standard homeware store shelving is complemented by pieces that also work as wayfinding.
The furniture zone is marked by a red metal frame in the outline of a house with a pitched roof: the bright outline is visible from a distance against the dark ceiling. Beneath it stands a platform with armchairs and a shelving unit, so the frame works as a sign without words. One module of form becomes the mark of the department, while the shelves and goods around it can change. How fixtures build a scene on the sales floor is covered in our article on retail zone scenography.
Curtains are shown at full height: tall bays of black section stand on a shared platform in a pale wood decor, each with a sample on a rail and cushions below. Customers see the length and the drape rather than a swatch on a hanger. Instead of closed display cabinets there are open frames, so the fabric can be touched. For upholstered furniture we made a platform in an oak decor — the raised level separates a room setting from the rows of sofas.
At the end of a shelving run stands the information desk: a grey carcass with a slanted support, a stone-look top, a cupboard with two doors and a panel with the store logo. The tall shelving on the floor is a standard system and is not part of our scope. We solved related tasks in the decor shop with shelves at staggered heights and in the loft-style shelving for decor.
This solution suits large stores that need accent points and themed zones alongside standard shelving. Everything about our shopfitting work is on the custom shop fittings page.
