Gonchara — Clothing Store

For the Gonchara clothing store we welded and installed a loft-style boutique fit-out: a wall-hung shelving unit across a full wall, suspended display cubes and a rack with a hanging rail set into a wall recess. Everything is made of square steel section and expanded metal mesh.

Mesh in place of a solid back

The large unit hangs on the wall and stays clear of the floor: cleaning under it is easier and the structure looks lighter than its size. The back and sides are mesh, so the whitewashed brick still shows through. An LED strip with changeable colour runs under every shelf. The light scatters across the mesh and gives the garments a coloured backdrop; the shade can follow the collection without touching the fixtures. Putting the recess and the pier to work

The rack in the recess is built exactly to the opening and painted pink: mesh sides, two short shelves at different heights and a rail for hangers. A spot that is usually wasted became a display. On the pier between the door and the window hangs a cube with one shelf and the same lighting. The door to the back room is made the same way, a steel-section frame with mesh, so it reads as part of the fit-out rather than a service opening. The sections arrive on site as finished welded frames that only need to be carried in and fixed. Close in spirit are our black metal floor-standing clothes rails; a lighter take with slim metal is the womenswear store with perimeter rails.
