Oak Walk-in Wardrobe

A custom walk-in wardrobe in a room of its own: an open storage system on three walls, floor to ceiling, in a grey-brown oak look. There are no doors — only the drawers are closed.

A layout on three walls

The furniture forms a U. On the long walls, shelf sections alternate with drawer blocks and hanging sections, while the end wall is given over entirely to a rail with shelves above it. Short clothes hang on two levels; for long ones we left full-height sections. The top tier all the way round is open shelving for boxes and seasonal items, and the lowest shelves work well for shoes. The hanging sections have no back panel: the pale wall stays visible and the room does not feel cramped. Drawers and lighting

The drawers are grouped in blocks of four, with long black handles. Each block ends at waist height with a top in the same décor as the carcass — a place to put a bag down or stack folded clothes. An LED profile is recessed into the underside of the shelves above the rails: light falls on the clothes from above without dazzling. The rails are dark, to match the handles.

Why no doors

An open walk-in closet with LED lighting shows everything at once, clothes can air, and a narrow passage needs no clearance for doors. Where storage stands in a living space and is better closed off, a wall-to-wall wardrobe with flat fronts or a bedroom wardrobe with tinted doors is the better fit. Open storage without carcasses, on a metal frame, is the loft wardrobe system along a wall.
